Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 diced onion

  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Over medium heat, brown the ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven. As it cooks, break it up into small pieces using a spoon or spatula.
  2. Cook until the onion becomes transparent after adding the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot.
  3. Cook for an additional minute to toast the spices after adding the paprika, cumin, and chili powder.
  4. Add the kidney beans that have been rinsed & drained, as well as the diced tomatoes with juice. Mix thoroughly to blend.
  5. After bringing the mixture to a simmer, lower the heat to a low setting and cover the saucepan.
  6. For the flavors to fully develop, cook it for at least thirty minutes.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  8. If preferred, top the hot ground beef chili with shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped cilantro.
